“The coalition’s purpose is to build a networked community of public, private, and community organizations, prioritizing its work from the ground up,” explains Jackie Murphy, Director of Programs at the Collins Foundation and NESC board member. “It is centered on BIPOC voices in hopes of expanding access to culturally affirming STEAM learning experiences and career pathways for BIPOC youth and families.”

Innovation Challenge/Big Prizes

The KATU Innovation Challenge Contest is happening now! 

Students should develop ideas for a cleaner, greener, healthier planet. Students will compete as a team for fun, recognition, and up to $2,500!

Any middle or high school student team of up to 4 from Oregon and SW Washington can participate. Students from backgrounds currently underrepresented in STEM fields are encouraged to participate.

Registration is open between March 1 and March 31, 2021, and the submission deadline of April 9, 2021, is the final deadline. For more detailed information click here.

Girls Inc. Eureka New Class, Due by 4/30/21

Girls Inc. Eureka! is a STEM-based approach to engaging and empowering 8th -12th-grade youth to see themselves as an important part of the future workforce. 

Eureka! is a five-year program that brings young people onto local college and university campuses for an intensive summer program.

The Eureka! class of 2026 application is now open! Applications are due by April 30th, 2021.
